Social Media and World Peace

While researching the ongoing medical insurance/short term health insurance going on in DC, I stumbled across a blog that actually made an interesting point. The blog talked about social networks become the contact centers of the planet. The writer pointed out that these networks will allow us to share and understand our cultural and religious differences with people all over the world. This is the new "melting pot" that, once matured, will help bridge our differences and bring world peace. Sure it is a highly idealistic notion, but you have to admit, it has a lot of merit. Look at the US, formerly called the "melting pot" of the world, taking people of all different races and religions and blending them together peacefully. could the same thing transpire in the new melting pot? I hope so.
