Argon ST wins $29.8 million to deliver C5ISR solutions

FAIRFAX, Va., 2 July 2009. Argon ST Inc., a systems engineering, development, and services company providing full-service C5ISR (command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) systems and services to defense and intelligence customers, won new contract awards valued at roughly $29.8 million for systems and upgrades for maritime Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR).

Universal Display wins $750,000 SBIR Phase II contract from U.S. Air Force for flexible OLED displays

EWING, N.J., 2 July 2009. Universal Display Corp., maker of displays and lighting using its UniversalPHOLED phosphorescent OLED technology, won a $750,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract from the United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Work under the program, titled "Low-Power, Direct-View Flexible Displays," will focus on the development of a non-glass, ejection-safe, flexible OLED display prototype for use by pilots in tactical cockpit settings.

Swedish Armed Forces select Harris Corp.'s Falcon III Secure Personal Radio (SPR) for soldier radio program

ROCHESTER, N.Y., 2 July 2009. Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, won a contract to deliver the RF-7800S Secure Personal Radio for Sweden's Inter/Intra Group Radio (IGR) program. The contract is a multi-year framework agreement with an initial quantity of 900 radios to be delivered this month.

Lockheed Martin to begin concept development for U.S. Air Force Space Fence

MOORESTOWN, N.J., 1 July 2009. Lockheed Martin won from the U.S. Air Force a $30 million contract to begin concept development for Space Fence, a system of land-based S-Band radars and supporting operations centers that will detect and report on objects and debris orbiting the Earth. Lockheed Martin is one of three industry teams to receive contracts.

Oshkosh Corp. gains $1.05 billion to deliver M-ATV, invites input from manufacturers

OSHKOSH, Wis., 1 July 2009. Oshkosh Corp. has received an initial delivery order from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for 2,244 MRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATVs), valued at $1.05 billion. The order follows months of government testing on multiple production-ready vehicles.

Raytheon wins $36 million to supply Kuwait Patriot test equipment

TEWKSBURY, Mass., 30 June 2009. Raytheon Company won a $36.1 million Foreign Military Sales award from the U.S. Army to provide the State of Kuwait with Patriot Configuration-3 radar upgrade depot test equipment, training, and related technical services. Raytheon IDS is the prime contractor for both domestic and international Patriot Air and Missile Defense Systems and systems integrator for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles.

1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley employ AtHoc's network-centric mass notification system

SAN MATEO, Calif., 30 June 2009. AtHoc Inc., provider of network-centric emergency notification systems, announced a deal with the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley to expand its use of AtHoc IWSAlerts enterprise wide. The new deployment includes two additional major units -- the 1st Infantry Division and Irwin Army hospital. This rollout will double the number of protected people at Fort Riley from 5,000 to 10,000.

Northrop Grumman wins VisIOn Information Operations contract

RESTON, Va., 29 June 2009. Northrop Grumman Corp. will develop the software architecture for the Virtual Integrated Support for Information Operations eNvironment (VisIOn) system, which will provide situational awareness and mission planning capabilities for information operations across all U.S. military commands.

Next-generation missile defense radar systems for Navy warships is goal of new study contracts

WASHINGTON, 29 June 2009. U.S. Navy officials are awarding study contracts to three of the nation's top radar systems integrators as part of an effort to design the next-generation missile defense ship radar for the future CG(X) Navy cruiser and other surface warships.

Lockheed Martin delivers first Target Sight System production unit to U.S. Marine Corps

ORLANDO, Fla., 3 July 2009. Lockheed Martin officials delivered the first Target Sight System (TSS) production unit to the U.S. Marine Corps. The TSS is the multi-sensor fire control system for the U.S. Marine Corps' AH-1Z Cobra helicopter.

Boeing team to develop spacecraft power system for DARPA

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., 2 July 2009. An industry team led by Boeing won a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for work on Phase 2 of the Fast Access Spacecraft Testbed (FAST) program. The $15.5 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is currently funded to $13.8 million.

IDT completes acquisition of Tundra Semiconductor

SAN JOSE, Calif., 4 July 2009. Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDT), a provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions, completed its acquisition of all the shares of Tundra Semiconductor Corp. for an aggregate cash consideration of roughly $120.8 million Canadian.

GA-ASI completes successful first flights of Lynx radar on Sky Warrior UAV

SAN DIEGO, 1 July 2009. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA ASI) announced that its Lynx Block 30 Synthetic Aperture Radar/Ground Moving Target Indicator (SAR/GMTI) radar has completed two successful test flights on a Sky Warrior Block 1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in support of the planned Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) deployment of the first four Sky Warrior aircraft under the U.S. Army Extended Range/Multi-Purpose (ER/MP) UAV Program.

FAA installs runway safety warning system at LAX

WASHINGTON, 3 July 2009. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials announced last month that technology that alerts pilots to potential runway safety hazards is now operating at Los Angeles International Airport.

DARPA awards AeroVironment Phase II contract extension for Nano Air Vehicle development program

Honeywell launches product to reduce runway excursions with Emirates Airline

PARIS, 27 June 2009. Emirates Airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase Honeywell's SmartLanding for the majority of its fleet, and that Emirates will be the launch customer for this new product that builds on existing Honeywell avionics technology to address runway excursions.

NovAtel wins U.S. Federal Aviation Administration WAAS receiver contract

CALGARY, Alberta, 26 June 2009. NovAtel Inc., a manufacturer of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) precise positioning technology, won a contract by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop the next-generation Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) reference receiver (the GIII receiver).
