The Mil-Aero Command Post

Where great military and aerospace minds meet.

Is anyone planning to attend NVISION (http://www.nvision2008.com/)? Buzz Aldrin and NASA's Commander Collins are speaking, and the Mythbuster guys are going to blow something up. It has gained attention in the mil-aero industry lately -- but I am on the fence whether enough computing folks in our market are on hand to make it worthwhile.

Here's the description I received of the event:

NVISION 08 is a three-day mega-event bringing together engineers, designers, developers, researchers, artists, enthusiasts, gamers, film makers, business professionals and consumers from every field of the visual computing universe. Featuring speakers such as Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Astronaut and Space Commander Eileen Collins, Battlestar Galactica actress Tricia Helfer, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and more, you won't want to miss the visual revolution!

NVISION 08 will be held August 25-27, 2008 in San Jose, CA.

Is anyone in the mil-aero community attending or exhibiting? Thanks!

I, too, would be interested to know if anyone is attending in the mil-aero market. Seems Nvidia is making a push into mil-aero, perhaps. Do you use Nvidia cards in your systems/designs for mil-aero environments?

NVIDIA actually does a lot of business (has a large number of installs) in the geospatial information, geosciences, and scientific visualization areas -- all of which touch the mil-aero space. I have also heard NVIDIA cards are used to power various high-acuity training and simulation systems, including really hi-res domes. Hope this helps.

I heard that Bernard Charles, CEO of Dassault Systemes, is part of the keynote on Day 2. Should be interesting. As an editor working on Military & Aerospace Electronics, I will report on the happenings at the show -- it may very well be an event that the mil-aero community should keep an eye on (and participate more in).
